Animals Seahorses

This week I will be blogging about seahorses. Seahorses are unique, but not because of their shape. They are one of the only animals that mate once for life. One thing that is even more different is that the males carry the unborn children. Seahorses are normally from 0.6 inches to 14 inches long in their whole life. Their shape is so unique, many of seahorses species normally die of exhaustion when they are caught in a storm in the sea. Seahorses have these tinny flippers that are on their sides that flap 35 times per second. Even smaller fins are used for steering them. There are 35 known different kinds of seahorses.

Some people ask themselves, is it safer to live on land, or under water. It really depends on where you are because it is safer and more dangerous in different places in the water and in other places on Earth.

Fish are cold-blooded animals that live in the water. They are the most hunted, ate, or just caught for fun. Fish have the largest population out of all  animals on the Earth. Since there are so many different kinds of fish we there are different sizes and weights of fish.

Something interesting about fish is that they have been around for 450 million years. Fish were on the Earth before dinosaurs. It is estimated that there are 15,000 different kinds of fish that have not been found yet.

This week I will talk about Tigers. Tigers are big, huge, and normally mean animals, unless if you train it as a baby. Then, it will not know that it is supposed to be a mean animal. Most tigers live in the wild or in a zoo. Many tigers today live in Asia. They live in the jungle. Before humans came around tigers were the rulers of the world.

Most male tigers weigh about 500 pounds and female tigers weigh around 200. The lightest known male tiger known to exist weighed 200 pounds. Tigers normally live around 10 years. If they live in a zoo, then they live around 20 years. When a baby tiger is born it normally weighs around 2-3 pounds. They will have to drink from their mother for about 16 months. 18 months old is the earliest  they can make their first kill.  They have to stay with their mother for 2-3 years before leaving on their own.

One thing that most people don’t know is that there are white tigers. They are really rare and most of them live in zoos. That way they will live longer and probably have more kids. If we do this then they will not be endangered any longer.

What are one of the most dangerous animals in the world, and are in circuses, and eat meat. The answer is lions.  Male lions have manes under their chins. Female lions do not have manes.

Baby lions love to play. Sometimes if they have a brother or sister they will fight each other. They wont really hurt each other even if it looks like they really are. Older lions will fight each other and it wont be just for fun. If you see lions attacking each other then you should just let them fight. Do NOT get involved in the fight.

What most people don’t know is that lions can be white.

Animals Ducks

Ducks are mammals that live in and out of the water. They like to swim in the water to get their food, stay away from animals that might try to hurt them, or just to have fun. Ducks have their nests on land, that is where they lay there eggs. Male ducks have to federalize the eggs in order to have baby ducks. If the male duck doesn’t federalize the egg then the eggs will not hatch and we will be able to eat them.

Male ducks have a blueish greenish head. Female duck are brown. That way she can blend in with her nest.

Animals Dolphins

Dolphins are under water animals, but they are mammals. That means they breath air and feel their children milk. Female dolphins normally have 1 child in their lifetime. Having 2 or twins is extremely rare.

Dolphins normally travel or are in groups with 5 or more dolphins because if they are attacked by a larger animal like a shark then they have a better chance of hurting it or getting away. Also, they can protect the younger dolphins from getting hurt or killed. Dolphins are normally safe and nice animals to be around. If you go to a zoo with dolphins they choose a person out of the audience  to swim with it on the dolphin’s back.

Dolphins can be bigger than normal size. One was over 20 feet long. Bottlenose dolphins normally are around 8 feet. The smallest bottlenose dolphin was about 4 feet long. Dolphins normally live long for animals. They live to be about 40 years old. Most other animals live to be around 13-20 years old.

Now when you think about going some where you normally think about taking either a car, bus, riding your bike, rollerblading, or just walking. You don’t think about taking a donkey, do you because all of the above are faster, more fun, or you want to be with your friend or family.

Back in the Middle Ages donkeys played a very important part when it came to transportation, food, drink, or just for entertainment. For transportation donkeys had a cloth or towel and put it on the donkey’s back. They would have another person and have them lead the donkey to where it should go. Donkeys can only hold one adult or two young children.

Donkeys can also be used for food. That is what people would use donkeys for when it got old, sick, or if it was walking so slow. On farms, today, we use donkeys for their milk. When they get old we kill them and use them as our food. Donkeys are farm animals now. If you see a donkey it is because they are probably because they are on a farm.
